CONSIGNOR QUESTIONS:
What is a consignment sale?
When a person or company sells your items on your behalf in exchange for a commission, it is called a consignment sale. You are consigning with Trading Hands for a 3-day sale, verses a longer period in a store.
Will you take all of my items?
In order to maintain the quality of the sale, we thoroughly inspect every item. It is often easy to miss a stain or tear at home while preparing your items. If an item does not meet our standards, it will be removed from the sales floor. Click Here to see our guidelines.
Can I use a tagging gun?
Yes. However, tagging guns leave larger holes in clothing. For this reason we that you insert the gun through a seam in the clothing, if possible. Tags must be placed on the right side of the garment. Due to tagging guns only piercing the tag once, items run a higher risk of losing tags.
When do drop off my items?
Consignors drop off their items during certain drop-off times. A typical drop-off takes about 30-60 minutes, but will vary depending on the amount of items brought in and the amount of consignors dropping off at the same time. Usually our busiest times are during lunch and after work. Click Here to see the schedule.
When do I pick up my unsold items?
Consignors will pick up their unsold items during the specified times. Click Here to see the schedule. Any items that are not picked up during the scheduled pick-up time will be donated to a local charity or becomes the property of Trading Hands Kids Sale.
How do I price my items?
Items should be priced at the amount you would be willing to pay if you were the shopper. Generally, you can price your items 25 to 30 percent of retail and they will sell. Infant teen and maternity clothing should be priced competitively. Bigger items will go 25 to 50 percent of the retail price. We encourage you to price competitively. It is common to have duplicate items on the sales floor.
Can I participate in the sale if my items do not have barcodes?
No. To maximize the efficiency of the barcode system, all tags must have barcodes. A barcode station will be available during drop-off to print any last minute barcodes.
What will happen to my item if the tag comes off during the sale?
We will NOT sell any items with missing tags. Items will be placed in the 'Lost and Found' area. Please make sure to check the Lost and Found during pick-up.
When will I receive my check?
You will receive your check when you pickup your unsold items during the pickup hours. You must show a valid state issued photo ID to pickup your check. If you are unable to pickup your check at this time, we will mail it within one week following the sale.
Can a friend or relative pick up my check?
Yes, if they are a spouse, or they have a valid photo ID of the person named on the check.
Can I use barcodes from previous sales?
Due to the introduction of Detailed Seller Reports, we are issuing completely new barcodes for the Fall 2010 sale. Any barcodes previously ordered will not work in the new system. We ask that you print or order replacement barcodes for any items you have previously tagged.
How can I shop before the public?
Every consignor is given the opportunity to shop before the public by attending the Consignor Preview Sale. In addition, every consignor has the option to sign up as a volunteer worker. By becoming a volunteer worker, you will be one of the very first to shop at the Worker Preview Party which begins 2 hours before the Consignor Preview Party. Refer to our worker page for more information.
How do I attend the Preview Sale?
If you have registered as a consignor, you will be issued a Preview Party Pass for yourself, and you will be issued a Friend Pass that you may give to anyone. These will allow you to shop at the Consignor's Preview Party Sale that precedes the public sale. These passes will be issued to you during drop-off. You MUST bring the pass in order to attend the sale. Only one person may attend per pass.
Can I bring my child to the Pre-Sale?
Children are only allowed at the Consignor Pre-Sale with a valid pass. The only exception is an infant in a snuggly or a carrier. Children are not allowed at the Worker Pre-Sale.
WORKER QUESTIONS:
May I bring children with me during my worker shift?
No. It would be too difficult to keep an eye on your little one and work at the same time.
What if I cannot work my designated shift?
We depend on workers to fulfill their commitments. If you need to cancel, we ask that you cancel before the stated deadline. Occasionally unforeseen circumstances will come up. In this case, contact us immediately to reschedule your shift or to notify us of a suitable replacement. Workers who do not fulfill their commitments are subject to a 50% deduction of their earning's check and will not be allowed to participate as a volunteer worker or attend any future Worker Preview Parties. Some extenuating circumstances will be considered. Please review our Worker Agreement for more details.
